We celebrated my son Adam’s 13th birthday with our annual themed party. This time, I decided on “Spiders” as the main theme?
Adam has a wide range of interests, but he has a particular fascination with history, especially World War II, and nature… he loves animals, various reptiles, and insects. He has an immense knowledge and literally devours information about all living creatures. He wanted to have a tiny gecko, and he pestered my husband and me so much that we eventually gave in and got him… Wacław ? It didn’t take long, and three tiny praying mantises and… four more geckos moved into our house. I have no idea how Adam convinced me to do this… In any case, Adam became a proud terrarist (he also has a turtle), but there was one thing missing for his happiness… a tarantula. And that’s where the story ends because my husband and I have not agreed to a tarantula. Adam tried to persuade us to get the smallest one that exists, the slowest, the least venomous… but unfortunately, we didn’t agree. Adam still has a passion for spiders, spending hours reading about them on the internet, and to make him happy, I prepared a spider-themed birthday party ?゚リニ Who knows, maybe one day he’ll still convince us ?
First, there was a gingerbread cake with a chocolate spiderweb and a huuuge spider on top – Adam was most excited to see it, although he regretted a bit that it wasn’t real ? I also made his favorite yogurt and cheese jelly cube with edible spiders submerged in it, as well as chocolate cupcakes with cream and spiderwebs, nut cookies with spiders, and “spider pizzas” – tiny pizzas with spider-shaped olives. The whole thing was complemented by spiderweb decorations everywhere, artificial spiders, spider balloons, spider confetti, spider-themed tablecloths and plates.
The highlight of the party turned out to be a surprise hidden inside the cake… What was it…???? See the photo at the end of the post for yourself… ?
Preparing birthdays for my children is a huge pleasure for me, although it’s also a lot of work. The biggest challenge is always styling for photos for my blog while guests are practically at the doorstep. I run around the table with a camera in hand and craziness in my eyes, all while making sure that the pastries don’t get too warm from the flashlights! Let me tell you, it’s like “hardcore” photography ?゚メᆰ
I invite you to take a look at the photos ?

To conclude, a photo only for readers with strong nerves… ? ? The inside of the cake… with a surprise… I carved a hole in the middle layer of the cake and hid spiders inside… Adam was thrilled when spiders unexpectedly came out from the cake as it was being cut!!! ? I managed to take the photo “on the fly” while cutting the cake
