I celebrate my children’s birthdays every year in a very special way. I prepare themed parties for Adam and Nadia, depending on their current interests. This party I organized for Adam’s 15th birthday…. It’s amazing how quickly he has grown from my little boy to a young man – handsome, smart and well…. 😍💗 Many acquaintances told me at that time that such a birthday party was not for him anymore… that he was too big… that it was better to give him money…. But these thematic birthday parties of my children are already a tradition in our house, they bring us so much joy and that’s why I will do them as long as I can…. Because since when can’t a themed birthday party make a teenager happier? All over the world they have been the norm for many, many years – they are organized for children, teenagers and adults, with the theme adapted to the age of the birthday boy or girl, of course. I have ideas for the next birthday party for Adam and Nadia for decades to come, besides they have no choice – as adults they will celebrate with me too…! 😂
This year’s theme was fishing…🐟 Adam caught the bug over two years ago and has been fishing ever since, whenever he gets the chance. Of course he stocked up on the right gear, he has a really nice and modern spinning rod, a fancy fishing bag where he keeps all the necessary accessories, a big landing net and many other things he needs. As with any hobby, he spends a lot of time reading information about fishing, writing posts on forums…. So there was no other choice – the main topic for me was obviously…. 😊
As usual, I planned the entire menu and decorations down to the smallest detail – I love this time of year when I plan every day, look for inspiration, make shopping lists and to-do lists to get everything on track….
Did Adam enjoy the party…? Yes, and VERY…. He said it was the best party of all so far…. Well, do you understand now that for words like that, his smile, for moments like that, I do…. 💗 Nothing makes me happier than the joy of my children on the day of the party…. Therefore, my future daughter-in-law and son-in-law – whoever they are…, wherever they are…, they too must love my parties…. 😂😂😂
Now let’s get to the menu…. I have prepared:
➨ a fish-shaped “Catch of the Day” cake: but it was not a traditional cake, but thick layers of a delicious gingerbread brownie with plums, layered with a delicate cinnamon cream based on cream and mascarpone.
➨ Butter cream – cookies “fish” with icing
➨ Oreo mini desserts with “live bait” worms
➨ Shortbread cupcakes with sweet “caviar”
➨ Vanilla fish macaroons with chocolate mascarpone and Nutella cream “silverfish”.
➨ Lemon cupcakes with lemon buttercream “Goldfish”
➨ Fish and chips with garlic-dill dip
➨ Mini fish crackers
➨ blue jelly fish with jelly fish – “Aquarium”
➨ Jelly worms “spinnerbait”
➨ Cake Pops “Float”
➨ Drink “Seawater”
I served the sweets on wooden logs, boards, boxes and “mini pallets” as well as in metal buckets and decorated the table with a net (yes, I know it’s a fishing net, not a fishing net, but it suited me perfectly 😁 ). For decoration, I also used a cardboard “Happy Birthday” garland and real spinnerbaits I swiped from Adam’s fishing bag 😂🙈 The calamus I ordered from an online florist was also a cool decoration. Other highlights included a large handmade wooden fish, canning jars filled with water and tied with jute string, and moss jars, as well as a mini wooden fishing chair and fish-themed paper plates and cups.

But the biggest hit of the party was the fish cake, the “catch of the day” …. I have to confess to you that I’ve never made a cake so quickly – it literally took me two hours to assemble and decorate it. After cutting the fish shape out of a gingerbread brownie and filling it with cream, I covered the fish with sugar paste and painted it with food coloring – the shading had a nice effect, and the whole thing was completed with silver food coloring with a nice shine and printed fish scales, which gave the fish a real look. I took a piece of branch from the garden, some wire from the basement and a real hook from Adas’ fishing bag…. and that’s how a professional fishing rod was created 😉😂 The guests were amazed by the fish and said it looked like a real one! 😊
That would be enough of an introduction 😉 In the meantime, I would like to invite you to a really extensive photo reportage – I have prepared 36 detailed photos.
Let me know in the comments below the post if you like the party…?😊
A look across the table…
Fish cake – “Catch of the day” – Three thick layers of an insanely delicious gingerbread brownie with plums, layered with a delicate cinnamon cream based on cream and mascarpone…. The cake was delicious, not too sweet, perfectly formed into the shape of a fish and then perfectly cut into even slices. Every last crumb was distributed…. 😋
A handmade “fishing rod” for the true fishing pro 😂 I think you’ll admit it’s original 😉
“Cavior” – shortcrust pastry crackers with cream and dill cottage cheese, decorated with two types of herring roe caviar: black and red…
“Silverfish” – vanilla macaroons with chocolate Nutella cream and mascarpone…. After baking, I coated the macaroons with silver food coloring, which made them shimmer beautifully…. And to taste – insanely sweet, insanely delicious…. 💗
“Fish” – buttery, wonderfully crumbly and tender cookies with icing 😋
“Living bait” – A mini dessert consisting of several layers: homemade sponge cake, redcurrant jam, kajmak cream with mascarpone. The whole thing is topped with crumbled Oreo biscuits…. I layered everything in mini buckets and placed a jelly worm in the “bottom” of each biscuit…. 😈 It looked a little gross, but the flavor was extra! 👌
“Sweet caviar” – crispy, round cupcakes filled with “cream” from the “Oreo” cookie filling that I had left over after crumbling the cookies for the “Live Bait” …. And on top of that, another hit of the party: fruity gel balls, which you may know from the “bubble tea” sold in shopping malls. Shortly before Ada’s birthday, my mum gave me 3 kilos of balls (orange, berry and strawberry) – I didn’t have to think twice about what to use them for 😄 It was the perfect idea for sweet caviar! Thanks mom!!! 😘
“Floats” – Super delicious cake pops made from butter cake, dipped in white chocolate (the red color is also white chocolate, just with food coloring). I found the idea for this on the internet 😊
“Fish and Chips” – a salty snack whose name playfully (and perfectly) matched the theme of the party🐟 😄Delicious fish sticks, which I served with garlic dill dip and onion potato chips – the perfect interlude for everyone sweetened by cake and other sweets 👌 And yes, yes, I know – the mixture of macarpone, cream, fish and garlic must have been a cracker! 😂💥💣
“Fish” – small, salty cookies with poppy seeds and salt in the shape of fish…
One of the hits of the party: “Seewatter”. – EVERYONE wanted to drink it😂 You see, people are fed up with store-bought drinks, there’s nothing like getting back to nature! 😁 The blue “Frugo” for the kids did the trick! And you could put the cups on a real fishing chair 😉
“Spinnköder” – Auf der Party durfte das Wichtigste nicht fehlen – ohne Spinnköder geht gar nichts! Adaś weiß alles darüber, ich nicht, also beschloss ich, dass Gelee den Job machen kann 😄 An das Brett mit dem Netz und der “Happy Birthday”-Girlande habe ich Adaśs originelle Spinnköder gehängt 😎
Finally, a look at the fish, in case you haven’t looked at it enough… 😉
nd once again those cute buckets… They are beautiful! 😍💗
