The absolute taste of my childhood… 💗 Ingenious wafers, delicious and fresh waffles filled with a delightful cocoa mass based on whole milk powder. I still remember their taste today… My mother always bought them for us, and when she brought them home, my siblings and I devoured them as if we had never eaten anything sweet before 😁
The recipe is very simple and quick – the most important thing is just to add whole milk powder to the mixture – it “does all the work here.” I also fill the waffles with a portion of jam, mostly strawberry or blackcurrant jam, to balance the flavor. The slightly tangy jam blends perfectly with the sweet mass, and in my opinion, the waffles taste even better… 👌

Oblatne - filled wafer with cocoa cream
Ingredients
- 1 cup = 250 ml
200 g butter (can be replaced by margarine)
1 cup of sugar
1 sachet of vanilla sugar (16 g)
4 full tablespoons of dark cocoa
0.5 cup milk
2 cups whole milk powder
1 packet of waffles (e.g. square waffles: 6 pieces, 26 x 26 cm)
a few tablespoons of jam (e.g. strawberry or blackcurrant)
Directions
- Add the butter, sugar, vanilla sugar, milk and cocoa to the pan. Heat until all the ingredients have completely dissolved.
- then remove the pan from the heat and add the milk powder and stir well until there are no more lumps. I stir with a kitchen whisk. Leave the mixture to cool. The mixture should be thick and easy to spread on the waffles. If it is too thin, add a little more milk powder and mix well.
- When the mixture has cooled and thickened, divide it into 4 parts. Place the first waffle on a plate and spread with the mixture. Cover with the second wafer and spread with the mixture. Cover with the third wafer and spread with jam. Continue in this way until the mixture and the waffles are ready. You should end up with 4 layers of filling and 1 layer of jam.
- Wrap the waffles in cling film and place something heavy on top, such as a chopping board or a packet of sugar or flour, to weigh them down. Place in a cool place for a few hours. After this time, cut them into diamonds or squares.
Enjoy!
